NEW CARLISLE - On April 18, at approximately 12:55 a.m., the Clark County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported motor vehicle crash at 408 Kennison Ave., in the City of New Carlisle.

According to reports, the responding deputies arrived on the scene and discovered that a vehicle had left the roadway, jumped the street curb, then went through the yard at 408 Kennison, where the vehicle struck the garage and side of the residence.

The Deputies discovered that the vehicle was unoccupied and the driver had fled the scene.  Further investigation, showed that bricks and flying debris from the first house, struck an adjacent house causing damage to that structure.  No one in either dwelling reported any injuries suffered at the time of this release.

On April 19,  deputies from the Clark County Sheriff's New Carlisle Patrol Division  conducted a follow up investigation with Anthony R. Gillespie, 18 of Brookside Drive.

Gillespie stated that he “dropped something” during his operation of his car “ and when he looked up, he was heading into the house itself.”  Deputies charged Gillespie with the crash and cited him for failure to control.

NEW CARLISLEApril 2009: BAUERFINANCIAL, Inc., Coral Gables, Florida is proud to announce that New Carlisle Federal Savings Bank, New Carlisle, Ohio has earned its highest 5-Star Superior rating for financial strength and stability. BAUERFINANCIAL, the Nation’s Bank Rating Firm, has been analyzing and reporting on the nation’s banks for over 25 years.

The rating is based on the overall financial picture of the bank, and a 5-Star rating indicates that New Carlisle Federal Savings Bank is one of the strongest banks in the nation. This is the 83rd consecutive quarter that New Carlisle Federal Savings Bank has earned this highest honor; only 1% of the nation’s banks can claim this distinction.

“The number of 5-Star rated banks is diminishing”, comments Karen L. Dorway, president of BAUERFINANCIAL, “but that doesn’t mean they are extinct. New Carlisle Federal Savings Bank is an excellent example of traditional, conservative banking. In this new era of ‘back to basics’ thinking, this is exactly what you should be looking for in a bank.”

New Carlisle Federal Savings Bank was established in 1883 and has been serving the banking needs of its neighbors and friends for 126 years. It operates through three conveniently located offices in New Carlisle, Springfield and Tipp City and can be found on the internet at www.newcarlislefederal.com.

SPRINGFIELD – Wittenberg students, faculty and staff are teaming up with members of the Springfield community to make the university’s eighth annual Celebrate Service event on Saturday, April 18, the biggest and best yet.

Led by student-organizers Lily Pate, class of 2009 from Gahanna, Ohio, Emily Rudman, class of 2010 from West Lafayette, Ind., and Kristian Kovacs, class of 2009 from Gahanna, Ohio, with support from the rest of the staff, Wittenberg’s Office of Community Service has organized a program to direct an anticipated 70 participants, who will branch out to five locations across the city to participate in service projects. The 2009 theme is “Lend a Hand, Leave Your Mark,” and organizers are working hard to ensure that the participants’ efforts will have an impact on multiple aspects of the Springfield community.

“We will be focusing our efforts on service that benefits sites that work with youth or involving youth from the community in the service with us,” said Director of Community Service Kristen Collier. “We have worked with South Fountain Preservation, Inc., for three years on beautification projects, and this is the last year for a large tree-planting in the neighborhood. It only makes sense that we continue our tradition of working with them in their final stage of the project.”
