Earth Day bag project PDF Print E-mail

CLARK COUNTY - Children in Clark County will have an opportunity to create their own Earth Day messages and have them distributed to the community through the Earth Day Groceries Project.

The Clark County Waste Management District and Keep Clark County Beautiful are working with Kroger to provide paper grocery bags to schools that want to participate in the project.

Teachers or schools can request bags for their classrooms. Each student will get a bag to decorate with an environmentally themed message. The decorated bags will be delivered to Kroger stores, which will hand them out to shoppers the week of Earth Day, April 19-25.

Anyone wanting to participate should request their bags by Feb. 27. Requests for bags may be made by calling Linda Mitchell at 521-2023 or e-mailing at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

The grocery bags will be delivered to schools by March 16. Schools will be responsible for getting the bags to the nearest Kroger store in time to be distributed starting April 19.

Hundreds of schools nationwide have been participating in this project for years. Students can be as creative as they want to share their thoughts on how to respect the Earth. Take a look at the Web site www.earthdaybags.org for more information and for ideas on how to decorate the bags.

This activity is also open to organizations other than schools. Cub Scout packs, environmental camps, after school programs, and many others have joined in before.  All are welcome!

Business break ins PDF Print E-mail
Written by Editor
Monday, 12 January 2009 10:08

BETHEL TOWNSHIP - On Jan. 12, starting at approximately 0121 hours, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office received one of three alarm trips to several of the area businesses.

The first alarm was received at the Moose Lodge located at 12325 Gerlaugh Road. Deputies from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office responded within minutes  to the business and found that the business was secured.

The second alarm was triggered at 1:26 a.m. at the Century Lanes Bowling Alley, just across from the Moose Lodge on State Route 235, 3301 South Dayton-Lakeview Road. There, unknown suspects had broken out the glass entry doors on the southwest side of the building and made entry into the business.

Deputies arrived on the scene and checked the interior of the complex, but did not locate any suspects.

The third alarm of the night came in at approximately 2:26 a.m. The V.F.W. Post located at 10750 Musselman Road had been forcibly entered by the unknown suspects, and possibly were the same individuals responsible for the other break-ins received in the area. A search of the area in each case proved that the suspects had fled on foot and possibly had a vehicle in the area.

Anyone with information on the rash of break-ins in the Bethel Township area is encouraged to contact the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and/or the Clark County Sheriff’s Detective Bureau.
